This rare 1981 booklet, "Ralph Waldo Emerson: Forerunner of the Future," is the first installment of Carl Stegmann's "The Time is at Hand." Published as a manuscript in Carmichael, California, it offers a unique Anthroposophical perspective on Emerson, drawing connections between his transcendentalist philosophy and the works of Goethe and Rudolf Steiner.
The 61-page text explores Emerson's relationship to America's spiritual destiny and the younger generation. It includes a vintage directory of Anthroposophical centers and Waldorf schools. This self-published work is a significant find for collectors of Steiner's Spiritual Science, Waldorf education history, or Emersonian studies.
Item condition: Good vintage condition. The yellow cardstock cover shows light age-toning and minor corner wear. The blue tape-reinforced spine and staples are secure. Interior pages are crisp, though several pages contain neat yellow highlighting.
